OLIVER
May 7, 1941
GEORGE
Greenock
of 11 Carwood Street. Son of George and Sarah Oliver, of 10 Hillend Drive; husband of Mary Wilson Barr Oliver. Died at 10 Hillend Drive.
Tom Robertson recalled: A parachute land mine had landed about fifty yards away right on top of another Anderson shelter. I later heard that only bits and pieces of the eleven occupants, including the Oliver family were ever discovered. A single finger with a ring was one such piece. The Olivers had lived in Hillend Drive directly behind us. A large water filled crater marked the spot for a number of years.
