Son of Andrew and Christina Alcorn, 77 Ardgowan Street, Port Glasgow; husband of Beatrice Alcorn. Joined up 17th December 1939 and fought at Dunkirk, North Africa, Italy and Normandy. Educated at Greenock High he worked at the Ministry of Labour in Port Glasgow
